Village Shop

Lydbury North Community Shop and Post Office is entirely run by villagers on a voluntary basis. When the original shop closed residents decided to fight for a new village shop. They were successful and managed to rent a bungalow for a low rent from South Shropshire Housing Association, and with help from the Countryside agency, formed a  committee and set up shop. The Post Office also established a part time post office on the premises. managed by Jenny Juleff.
The shop is the social point of the village and local people value its accessibility and convenience. Each volunteer brings their own skills to the shop, from stocktaking to serving behind the counter.
The shop is often involved in other village ventures including sponsoring a breakfast club for the local primary school. It has also pledged to support a season of film shows in the village hall during 2007. (Flicks in the Sticks)
We can order any papers and magazines, get photos printed. We sell over 800  lines. Where we can, we stock local produce. Our bread comes from Wem, our potatoes from Brockton and our smoked salmon from Clunbury.
If you require something we don't  stock, please ask  - we want to help you.

If you would like to be involved in running the shop and have a few hours to spare each week, please contact the shop 01588 680501
