| Bury Ditches |
One of the best preserved Iron Age hill
fort's in the country, Bury Ditches has different graded walks, a nature
trail and superb panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Leaving
Lydbury North on the B4385 towards Bishop's Castle, turn left towards
Brockton And Lower Down.
Continue past the hamlet of Lower Down. There is a car park and
information point, picnic
tables have been provided.
The most southerly moorland heath of its kind in the
country, spectacular walking with breathtaking views. National
Trust, with open access. The southern end of the Long Mynd is within

Ludlow is an historically important
site with over 500 listed buildings, the original medieval street
pattern can still be seen. The 900 year old castle dominates the town
overlooking the market square. Ludlow also has a number of restaurants
and old pubs. There is a museum and library. Ludlow market is held on
Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There also regular monthly
Sunday Antiques and Flea Markets. For more information contact the

| Mitchell's Fold |
A few miles from Bishop's Castle, off the A488 is the English Heritage site of Mitchell's Fold. This is an ancient stone circle from the Bronze Age, in wild moorland with magnificent views of the Shropshire Hills and Wales.
Spectacular six mile long stretch of rocky outcrops. The dramatic landscape has inspired many local myths and legends. Much of the Stiperstones is a National Nature Reserve. From Bishop's Castle take the A488 road to Shrewsbury. |
Within walking distance of Lydbury North, it is set in 30 acres of landscaped gardens, including an arboretum, with pools, developed by the son of Lord Clive of India. The arboretum is open daily, 12 noon-4pm, Easter - October. The drive way is adjacent to The Powis Arms. There are three fishing lakes stocked with perch, tench and pike.
