Household Recycling
Lydbury North is part of the  Shropshire Council scheme to reduce household waste as much as possible.
Residents are given two wheelie bins and a green box.
Black wheelie bin - Non-recyclable waste ( plastics, cat litter etc)
Green wheelie bin - for bio-digestible waste ( garden waste, food waste, cardboard etc)
Green box - for re-cyclable waste ( Newspaper, magazines, junk mail, tins, glass)

The Black wheelie bin is emptied on Friday and the following Friday the Green box and the Green wheelie bin are emptied.
A calendar of dates is available from the Council.

A large Household Waste Recycling Centre is based at Craven Arms, this will take large items, e.g. soil, engine oil, electrical equipment.
Some plastic waste (plastic bottles, carrier bags) can be recycled here.
A smaller recycling facility is based at Bishop's Castle Business Park (bottle banks, newspapers etc)

Bank Holidays:
There will be no collection of domestic refuse on bank holidays.
ALL rubbish collections during a bank holiday week will be made one day later than usual. i.e. Friday collections will be on a Saturday.
 

Library

The nearest library is at Bishop's Castle, it has internet facilities. Telephone 01588 638215.
It is based at Enterprise House, which also has computing and photocopying facilities.

A mobile library visits Lydbury North every two weeks on a Monday  from 9.30 - 9.45am. (please check with Bishop's Castle Library)
The Mobile Library is based at Bishop's Castle Library.

Dial-a-Ride
Bishop's Castle & District Dial-a-Ride operates a regular Friday morning service into Bishop's Castle, it provides by arrangement an on-demand service to any person with a transport need. Dial-a-Ride operates a small bus which takes individuals or groups of up to 12 or 13 (check with co-ordinator). A rear lift  is fitted for wheelchair users, and a helper can be arranged to travel with the less able.
